Lokaal 040 is a welcoming and easily accessible bar Fontys, designed for students, teachers, and staff—both from within the institution and beyond. Whether you're here to meet up, socialize, or simply unwind, we offer the perfect atmosphere to enjoy affordable drinks with great company.

Our menu features freshly tapped beers, rotating craft selections, and a variety of soft drinks to suit every taste. While our doors are regularly open on Thursdays and Fridays, we are also available for special events on other days. Looking for a place that feels like home, where the drinks are reasonably priced, and the vibe is just right? Lokaal 040 is the place to be!

At Lokaal 040, our mission is to bring students, teachers, and staff together by offering an inclusive, affordable, and welcoming space for social connection.

Our History

Since our grand opening on October 6, 2022, Lokaal 040 has grown significantly. It all started in Nexus, the Fontys building on the Tu/E campus.

Originally launched as the main bar of the student associations Innovum, Planck, and BGE, we started out modestly, serving bottled beer to small but enthusiastic crowds.

Through collaboration with the BaCo-team and our official registration with the Chamber of Commerce (KvK) in 2023, we have expanded and professionalized—thanks in part to strong partnerships with Fontys and ASML. Today, our visitors can enjoy:

We are now a thriving hub for students, teachers, and staff alike.

Looking ahead

Our journey so far has been incredible, but we’re just getting started. We dream of expanding, innovating, and strengthening our role as the central meeting place for everyone connected to Nexus—and beyond.
